Gas Cylinder Safety

Don’t keep it flat

Always keep it erect

See the connection from the gas cylinder to the gas stove is given properly

See the tube is in tact and is not worn out

Replace the tube regularly

When you buy stove and accessories including the tube see whether they are reputed brands and has certification from standard certificate issuing institution and as per the local safety standards

When the gas supply gets reduced don’t shake the cylinder

Don’t keep two cylinders next to each other

Develop a system to periodically check gas leak.

You can apply soapy water that is water mixes with water and apply the same on the suspected place you will see bubbles coming there only confirming gas leak

Always remember to close the valve of the cylinder after use

Have a child-safe regulator on the LPG cylinder installed.

The tube or hose should never come over the burner.
- Stand the cylinder upright and make sure that any hose connection between the cylinder and the appliance does not come into contact with or near the gas burner.
- Educate children about the dangers of mishandling gas stove and advise them not to handle it.
- Buy a regular as well as portable fire extinguisher. One portable can be kept in the kitchen and another outside the kitchen.
- Do a brainstorming with other members of family and get ideas from them. That will make them think and will make sure of their involvement.
If gas leak is suspected
- immediately wide open the doors and windows
- You should not light the matches
- If you have smoking habit , you should not smoke
- Close the gas cylinder connection to the gas stove
- Don’t switch on or off lights/ fans
- Inform your gas supplier
- Leave the place immediately
